From a fully supervised cinema feature down to a quick online consultation.
Ideally I come in before the shoot. I develop the look together with the DoP and director, and build all the LUTs the production needs — matched to every camera and to the monitors on set, so what everyone sees while filming already carries the intended look.
Then comes the grade itself — from weeks of supervised feature sessions to a fast remote pass, right down to an online consultation when a project just needs a second pair of trained eyes. Same care; only the scale changes.
Optical diffusion — the soft halation of a Black Pro-Mist filter — rebuilt in software, in scene-linear light. Digital diffusion usually looks cheap because a single blur cannot mimic real glass; this kit stacks four weighted blur taps to recreate the heavy-tailed glow of real filters, then layers a milky veil on top. Free and open-source.
I’m a DoP and colorist working between Berlin, Frankfurt, New York and Perugia — and remotely worldwide. I grade fiction, documentary and commercial work, and love being involved early, developing the look together with the cinematographer before a single frame is shot.
Grading is the moment when mood, time of day and emotion get their final say. Whether it’s a remote pass overnight or weeks of supervised sessions, the goal stays the same: a picture that feels inevitable.
